1. Throughout the reporting period, subordinate units of this command were assigned missions as follows:

2. 1 - 30 April 1967; The Civil Affairs Program for the month of April in the YEN BAC HAMLET, consisted of providing animal food (Garbage) on a daily basis to Yen Bac and to the 1st Tank Battalion Pig Farm. Regular Med-Caps will commence on 1 May 1967.
12 April 1967. Second Platoon, Company C arrive DaNang aboard LST 1083.
13 April 1967. First Platoon, Company C arrived at DaNang aboard LST 3.
15 April 1967. Company C Headquarter and 3rd Platoon arrived at DaNang aboard LST 276.
1-30 April 1967. The Battalion continues its role of supporting the Southern Sector Rear Area Defense by continuing active daily patrolling of the assigned area of responsibility.
1-30 April 1967. During the month of April, there was an increase in the employment of Ontos in search and destroy operations, mechanized patrolling and convoy escort, - See Company A, B, and C Command Chronologies.

1-30 April 1967. During the month of April the Battalion fired a total of Two hundred eighty-eight (288) rounds 106mm ammunition, five hundred-and-three (503) rounds .50 Caliber ammunition and Four thousand five hundred and twenty-five (4,525) rounds .30 Caliber ammunition. The Battalion Ontos traveled a total of seven thousand, five hundred and fifty-two miles.

PART III SEQUENTIAL LISTING OF SIGNIFICANT EVENTS.
1 April Second Platoon, Company A received 10 rounds small arms fire from BT001612. Search was made with negative results.
1-8 April Third Platoon, Company B participated in OPERATION DE SOTO.
Light Section, 1st Platoon, Company B occupied blocking position in support of Squad from D Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, at BS718942 from 1015H to 1500H. Negative contact.
4 April Light Section Second Platoon, Company C escorted a convoy from 1st FAG to positions in the vicinity of NUI VO. Ontos remained in position overnight.
5 April Light Section, 2nd Platoon, Company C escorted a convoy from 1st FAG at NUI VO to 1st FAG CP. Negative contact.
Heavy Section, 1st Platoon, Company C which departed on 31 March returned from OPERATION BOONE at 1900H. Negative contact.
8 April At 0900H Heavy Section, First Platoon, Company C supported platoon size patrol from CAC "INDIA" in vicinity of coordin- ates BT3310. Negative results.
9 April At 0930H a light section of Ontos from First Platoon, Co B, was enroute from 1st Bn., 7th Marines CP to support a platoon sized sweep from D Co., 1st Bn., 7th Marines. At coordinates BS047988. One of the Ontos B-13 detonated a pressure-type mine which resulted in the total destruction of the Ontos. Three USMC were WIA Med-Evac. A reation force from D Co., 1st Bn., 7th Marines supported by the other Ontos swept the area with negative results.
10 April At 1730 H the 2nd Platoon "Minus", Co. C departed Hill 35 (Headquarters, Fifth Marine Regiment) for the Sand Ramp to commence 1 cading for "Operation OREGON".
12 April Third Platoon, Co. A Ontos A-35 detonated a land mine at BT119029 resulting in 3 WIA Med-Evac. Moderate Hull damage, extensive damage to engine and transmission.
At 0605H 2nd Platoon, (Minus) Co. C sailed from the Sand Ramp (Chu Lai) to DaNang aboard LST 1083.

14 April Third Platoon, Company A received 20 to 25 small arms fire from BT023571. Ontos fired 12 106mm rounds, 15 .50 caliber spotter rounds from BT 023567. No search was made due to darkness.
15 April At 1300H Company C, Headquarters and 3rd Platoon aboard LST 276 arrived DaNang.
Light section, 1st Platoon, Company C occupied defensive positions at BT925693 in support of B Company, 1st Battal- ion, 7th Marines.
Heavy Section, 1st Platoon, Company C occupied position at BT 935603 in support of 1st Battalion, 7th Marines.
16 April Third Platoon, Company A received ten to fifteen rounds small arms fire from BT027581. Ontos fire 2 106mm rounds and 4 .50 caliber spotter rounds from BT025577. Search was made with negative results.
Third Platoon, Company A at BT027581 received ten to fifteen rounds small arms fire from BT023568. Ontos fired 5 106mm rounds and 5 .50 caliber rounds into a hut. Two (2) VC KIA Probable. No search was made due to darkness.
18 April First Platoon, Company C spotted person coming out of treeline while in blocking position at BT089691. Detained individual Age 20, with mutilated ID Card. Turned VC suspect over to S-2, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines for interrogation.
Light Section, 1st Platoon, Company C provided helo security direct support of D Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, vicinity of BT958671. Negative contact.
19 April First Platoon, Company A Ontos A-12 and A-13 received 2 M-79 rounds from BT082689. Ontos A-13 fired `150 .30 caliber rounds, and 4 M-26 grenades from BT082689. Ontos A-12 fired 3 106mm rounds and 3 .50 caliber spotter rounds from BT084689. Ontos Cmdr. on Ontos A-12 WIA Non-Med-Evac. Ontos A-13 had accidential discharge while pumping breech closed. Actuator taken off and gun left undisturbed.
20 April Third Platoon, Company A received 10 to 15 rounds small arms fire from BT000584. Ontos A-31 fired 17 106mm rounds and 4 .50 caliber spotter rounds. No search was made due to mission. FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY 6 ENCLOSURE (1)

Third Platoon, Company A Ontos A-32 received an unestimated number of small arms fire from AT985590. Ontos fired 6 106mm rounds and 5 .50 caliber spotter rounds. No search made due to darkness.
Third Platoon, Company A Ontos A-32 received small arms fire from treeline at AT940600. Ontos A-32 fired 4 106mm rounds and 5 .50 caliber spotter rounds and 250 .30 caliber rounds from AT994548. No search was made due to mission.
Heavy Section, 1st Platoon, Company C departed AT935663 in support of reinforced squad from Company B, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, at 1200H. Patrol at AT905663 returned to CP at 1600H. Negative results.
Light Section, 1st Platoon, Company C at AT922692 escorted reinforced squad from B Companly, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines on patrol to Dong Bich (1) at AT894682. Patrol departed 0800H returned 1330H. Negative contact.
Area where air strike was being held at AT915675. Ontos C-11 and C-12 fired a total of 12 106mm rounds and 4 .50 caliber spotter rounds with excellent target coverage. Search of area resulted in 3 VC KIA Confirmed and 5 VC KIA Probable. Found one (1) medical kit with supplies and one (1) M-26 hand grenade. No friendly casualties, returned to CP approximately 1615H.
21 April Light Section, 1st Platoon, Company C at AT922692 escorted reinforced squad from B Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines on patrol to Ding Bich (3) vicinity coordinates BT888686. Patrol departed 1300H returned 1930H, negative contact.
Light Section, 1st Platoon, Company C departed with fire team from A Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines at 1300H on patrol at BT964667. Returned 1730H with negative results.
Heavy Section, 1st Platoon, Company C on patrol with D Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines found booby trap (M-26) in building at AT955655. Ontos fired 2 106mm rounds destroying building. A secondary explosion was observed.
24 April Light Section, 3rd Platoon, Company C in support of L Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines on "Operation Grand" in vicinity of Grid square 8257. Departed CP at 1400H on 23 rd of April.

Light Section, 2nd Platoon, Company C on patrol with reinforced squad from C Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines fired 9 106mm rounds and 19 .50 spotter caliber spotter rounds for reconnaisance by fire at BT026588 and BT027587. No search was made due to mission.
25 April Light Section, 3rd Platoon, Company C in support of L Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marines on "Operation Grand" at BT807553. Negative Contact.
26 April Light Section, 1st Platoon, Company C on patrol with D Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines at AT882688 observed 12 VC with weapons of unknown type running in a Southwesterly direction. Ontos C-21 and C-15 fired a total of 11 106mm rounds and 10 .50 caliber spotter rounds. Observed 8 VC move into treeline. Search of area made with negative results. Four VC KIA Probable.
Light Section, 2nd Platoon, Company C returned to CP from BT018578 where they occupied position for Company A while they were on "Operation Union".
Light Section, 3rd Platoon, Company C returned from "Operation Grand" to AT878576 in support of I Company 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines.
Light Section, 1st Platoon, Company C in support of B Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marines at BT847697 departed 0700H returned 1200H.
27 April Heavy Section, 3rd Platoon, Company C departed at 0900H in support of C Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marines for patrol in vicinity of AT896657, returned 1500H.
28 April Light Section, 3rd Platoon, Company C in support of K Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines set up in blocking force in grid square 9562. Returned 1700H. Negative contact.
29 April Light Section, 3rd Platoon, Company C departed at 1800H in support of K Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines at AT928628.

1. Throughout the reporting period, subordinate units of this command were assigned missions as follows;
1st PLT, DS 3rd Bn First Marines
2nd PLT, DS 2nd Bn First Marines
3rd PLT, DS 1st Bn First Marines
2. 1-30 April 1967. The Ontos in DS of the 39th ARVN Bn participated in Operation CANYON 6-9 April 1967 and Operation UNION 21-25 April 1967. Company A continued to provide Ontos for escort missions, mechanized patrols, convoy escort and Defensive Positions. The terrain is excellent for Ontos operation in the First Marine TAOR.
3. 1-30 April 1967. The Ontos fired (131) 106MM rnds, (220) .50 Cal. rnds and (1,975) .30 Cal. rnds. The Ontos traveled 4,451 miles in 1,140 hours of operation.
PART III SEQUENTIAL LISTING OF SIGNIFICANT EVENTS
1 April SECOND PLATOON received 10 rnds SA fire from 007611. Returned 7 106MM rnds from 001612. Search made NEG results. (See Ref (A)).
12 April THIRD PLATOON A-35 detonated a land mine at 119029 resulting in 3 WIA MED EVAC. Moderate hull damage Extensive damage to engine and transmission. (See Ref (B)).
14 April THIRD PLATOON received 20 to 25 SA rnds 023571. Return- ed 12 106MM rnds, 15 .50 Cal. rnds from 024568. Unable to hold search due to mission. (See Ref (C)).
16 April THIRD PLATOON received SA rnds 10 to 15 rnds from 027581. Returned 2 106MM rnds and 4 .50 Cal. rnds from 025577. Search made - NEG Results. Received 10 to 15 rnds SA fire from 023568 Expended 5 106MM rnds & 5 .50 Cal. rnds A-33 expended 6 106MM rnds & 10 .50 Cal. at snipers in huts. Two probable VC KIA unable to hold search due to darkness. (See Ref (D)).
18 April FIRST PLATOON spotted person coming out of treeline while in blocking positions at 089691. Detained individual. Age 20, with mutilated ID Card. Turned VCS over to circumference 2 for interr- ogation. (See Ref (E)).

OC on A-12 WIA slight cuts arm & face declined first Aid NON MED EVAC. A-12 received 1 M-79 round. Returned 3 106mm rounds & 3 .50 Cal. rnds from 084689 to 085683. A-13 had accidental discharge while pumping breech closed. Actuator taken off & gun left undisturbed. (See Ref (F)).
20 April THIRD PLATOON A-31 received 10 to 15 rnds from 000584. A-31 expended 7 106mm rnds & 4 50 Cal. rnds fire was into wood- line. No search made due to mission. A-32 received unesti- mated number of SA rnds from 985590. Expended 6 106mm rnds and 5 .50 Cal. rnds from 994596. No search made due to miss- ion. A-32 received SA fire from treeline at 990600. A-32 expended 4 106mm rnds, 5 50 Cal. rnds & 250 .30 Cal. rnds from 994598. No search made due to darkness. A-33 received SA fire; 20 to 25 rnds from treeline at 000582. A-33 expen- ded 6 106mm rnds & 750 Cal. rnds. Search made NEG Results. (See Ref (G)).
